On September 7, 2023, the Vietnamese Language Festival 2023 in Russia was held. The Festival, in which Vietnamese students, Russian students studying the Vietnamese language, Vietnamese language teachers and the RFTA staff took part, was organized with the support of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Russian Federation. The event took place at the Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) in order to support the Vietnamese language studies and training of Vietnamese students in educational and research institutions in Russia.
As a part of the event, a speech was made by Dang Minh Khoi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation.
The event aroused interest among Academy students. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 5 Vietnamese students are studying at the RFTA also, this year they began teaching the Vietnamese language at the Faculty of International Economics. Some students decided to share their opinions about the Festival.
“Thank you for the opportunity to attend this festival. The event began with a conference where the discussion was exclusively in Vietnamese. Of course, due to the lack of necessary knowledge, the essence of the conversation was not clear, but I tried to catch the tones and followed the gestures, which I think is useful. At the event we could taste Vietnamese cuisine. The ceremonial part was built very competently. The concert was opened by Vietnamese children. I also really liked the performance of a young Vietnamese man who brilliantly sang a song in his own language, it was incredibly beautiful and laconic.”

This is the first Vietnamese Language Festival in Russia in which I participated. For me and other Vietnamese students, the festival is of great importance. It helps us get to know better Russian students studying Vietnamese. I am extremely proud of the fact that the Vietnamese language is becoming popular in Russia and is gaining popularity among Russian students. And also, I am very glad that starting this academic year they began teaching Vietnamese at the Academy.

It is such a rare opportunity to meet Russian and other foreign students who love the Vietnamese language. Listening to them read Vietnamese poems and sing Vietnamese songs was an unforgettable experience. In addition, it is an opportunity for everyone to learn more about Vietnamese culture and try Vietnamese dishes. All in all, I really enjoyed this event and hope this tradition will continue to develop.
