From December 2 to December 4, 2024, the online educational marathon "The Art of Negotiation" was held at the RFTA Ministry of Economic Development in the framework of the Russian-Chinese Association of Economic Universities (RCAEU) with the support of the Russian Export Center (REC).
Seven teams took part in the event: teams from Russian universities from RFTA of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management, Financial University of the Government of the Russian Federation, P. Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Southern Federal University, from Chinese universities - teams from Jilin University of Finance and Economics (Changchun) and the University of International Business and Economics (Beijing).
The marathon consisted of three sections, where each team demonstrated their negotiation skills. On the first day of the marathon, the participants competed in the section in Russian, and on the second day they competed in Chinese. The final day of the marathon was held in English.
The cases of each section are related to the foreign economic activity of the bilateral Russian-Chinese cooperation. The teams showed a high level of preparation, creativity and strategic thinking, which allowed them to justify effectively their negotiating positions. Each team performed an excellent job, demonstrating a deep understanding of the cultural issues and business traditions of China. The teams actively interacted with each other, which facilitated the exchange of experience and language practice. The discussions were intense and constructive, and the participants proved themselves to be true professionals.
At the end of each section, students received valuable feedback and professional recommendations on improving their negotiation skills from expert practitioners in foreign economic activity, including university professors, specialists from the REC Export School and business professionals.
The negotiation marathon has become an important stage in the education and preparation of students for future professional activities. It is important to note that the goal of the marathon is not to evaluate the best performance of the team, but to provide valuable recommendations to students on improving business communication skills through feedback from expert practitioners.
