International seminars organized by the Ministry of Economic Development, UN Development Program (UNDP) and the Russian Foreign Trade Academy (RFTA) were held on 13-14 May 2015. The seminars have closed the series of international seminars on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The first international seminar in the series devoted to development of small and medium-sized innovative companies in the SCO countries, was held in Moscow in June 2014. The subject of the seminar on May 13 was the trade and economic agenda of the SCO and the EEU. The participants of May 14 seminar discussed the mechanisms to facilitate trade and economic development in the SCO countries.
The purpose of the seminars was to discuss the possible areas of priority in cooperation between Russia and the SCO countries, which is an urgent task in view of Russia's presidency in the SCO in 2015.
On the opening day the participants were welcomed by A. Likhachev, the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development; Ben Slay, a senior adviser to the UNDP Regional Centre for Europe and CIS in Istanbul, and P.Kadochnikov, the RFTA Provost for Research. In addition to the experts from India, China, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, as well as the representatives of the Russian expert community, the seminar was attended by the representatives of the Embassies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Tajikistan, as well as by the representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Economic Development.
