In February 2017, oral rounds of the Jessup competition in Russia were held. The RFTA team formed by Victoria Levchenko, Marina Kolyoskina, Elena Murashko, Nikolay Derunov and Olga Vnukova took part in this competition and made the top 10 teams of the Russian rounds.

Since September, the students have been studying the aspects related to the use of aquifers, investigated legal regulation related to cultural heritage and cultural values of states, as well as the development of international law establishing the rights and duties of the states with respect to migrants and refugees. Coaches, Anna Korshunova and Maria Petrenko, who graduated from the RFTA and participated in the Jessup Competition in 2014 and 2015, helped to train the team in writing memorandums for the plaintiff and the defendant, as well as prepared participants for the oral rounds. In the "Best Memorandum" nomination in Russia the team of the RFTA took the third place, sharing it with the MGIMO University team.
