Analytical note on the employment of graduates in 2024

In order to determine the degree of satisfaction of VAVT graduates with their education and analyze the employment situation, the Career Center conducted a sociological study among graduates in 2024.
The study was conducted in June 2024 by interviewing graduates at the Career Center. It was attended by 510 full-time graduates FEM, FMF, FWM and MPF, which in total is 96.2% of the total number of graduates this year. There are 409 bachelors and 101 masters among the survey participants.

1. Satisfaction with education

According to the survey, the vast majority of VAVT graduates are on average 88.2% - satisfied with the level of professional training received. 11.4% of respondents are not fully satisfied, and 0.4% of respondents are absolutely not satisfied with the level of training they have received.

The average score of satisfaction with various aspects of learning was 4.65 points (the assessment was carried out on a scale from 0 to 5 points, where 5 is the maximum score). Graduates highly appreciated the role of VAVT in the level of their general theoretical training, the level of teaching foreign languages, and the academy's contribution to the improvement of erudition and general culture (4.76, 4.89 and 4.76 points, respectively). The graduates rated their level of practical knowledge and skills with 4.20 points.

1. Further education

Graduates in 2024 who were not working at the time of the survey probably planned to study at the next levels. Due to the fact that they did not yet know where they would enroll and in what mode they would study, employment was postponed until the fall.
According to our research, 382 graduates (75.0% of respondents)planned to study further, among them 344 bachelors or 84.8%, masters - 36 people or 35.6%. 15.2% of bachelor's degree graduates and 64.4% of master's degree graduates do not plan to continue their studies, i.e. they consider their education to be quite sufficient. More detailed information about the plans of bachelor's degree graduates is presented on the histogram:

In general, by the end of 2024, 215 people (42.2%) would like to continue their studies at VAVT (respectively, in graduate or postgraduate studies) 129 people (25.3%) planned to study at other Russian universities, 38 people (7.5%) planned to study abroad.

2. Work experience

By the time of graduation, in general, more than half of the graduates of the VAVT in 2024, namely 60.4% (including 51.8% of bachelor's degree graduates and 95.0% of master's degree graduates) have work experience, in addition to practical training.

The average length of service graduates in 2024 is about 1 year and 3 months. The average length of work for bachelors is slightly more than 11 months, for masters - about 1 year and 11 months.

3. Employment of graduates

Next, the graduates were asked about the most effective from their point of view employment opportunities (there were several possible answers). According to the survey, graduates prefer specialized Internet resources (hh.ru 85.3% of responses), direct mailing of resumes to companies (66.1% of responses), and also rely on the help of relatives/acquaintances (55.1% of responses). Some respondents consider it effective to attend job fairs, exhibitions and career events (21.6%), a small number are ready to sign a contract with a recruitment agency (5.5%) or contact the city employment service (1.2% of responses).
The preferences of the graduates surveyed when choosing the desired place of work (there were also several possible answers to this question) were distributed as follows. For the first time in many years of our research, the number of people willing to work in Russian business (73.9% of graduates, 68.9% last year) exceeded the number who chose international companies (72.5%, 79.0% last year). Apparently, the redistribution of responses is related to the foreign policy situation and the active support of Russian business from the state, and as a result, its more stable growth and better prospects. At the same time, a significant number of graduates, 29.4%, are ready to consider the public/budgetary sector as a future workplace.

Taking into account that the survey was conducted before the graduates received their diplomas (in fact, they were still students), about half of the respondents were already employed during this period – on average, 49.4% (252 people) graduated; 3.9% of them had temporary (possibly unofficial) jobs. Another 16.1% of the respondents (82 graduates) were in the process of being employed at a specific place of work at the time of the survey. 34.5% of graduates (176 people) did not work during this period.
It is quite natural that the percentage of working graduates of the master's degree is much higher: only 5.9% of them did not work at the time of graduation, while this figure is 41.6% for bachelors.

The vast majority of employed graduates, namely 92.6%, have a job that corresponds to their education at the University (75.1% of them fully correspond, and 17.8% partially correspond). Only 7.4% of graduates in 2024 do not work according to their profile.

Interestingly, quite a lot of graduates (80.2%) use the foreign languages they studied at the University in their work.
It is also noteworthy that there are graduates who are not planning in the near future work (7 people or 1.4%). The reasons for this are mainly the desire to relax and travel, as well as further study during the day.

4. Salary expectations and real wages.

In this study, the Career Center also studied the level of salary expectations and income levels of graduates in 2024. It turned out that this year our bachelors expect to receive an average of 90.7 thousand rubles per month, and masters - 136.0 thousand rubles. At the same time, the real average salary for those who completed their bachelor's degree is 74.4 thousand rubles (last year – 69.4 thousand rubles), for those who completed their master's degree – 110.2 thousand rubles (last year - 90.9 thousand rubles).
The average salary for the 2024 graduation reached 86180 rubles per month, which is significantly higher than the same indicator for 2023 (76140 rubles). The distribution of the income level of graduates of the VAVT in 2024 is shown in the graph:
